Why Does Stainless Steel Rust?

1. Due to on-site decoration or other reasons, dust containing other metal elements, or substances like acids, alkalis, or salts, may adhere to the stainless steel surface. In humid air, these can corrode the stainless steel.
2. Organic substances like sweat, juice from melons or vegetables, soup, or phlegm can stick to the stainless steel surface. Under the influence of water and oxygen, these form organic acids. If left untreated for a long time, they can corrode the surface.
3. In polluted air (containing large amounts of sulfides, carbon monoxide, or nitrogen oxides), these substances can combine with condensation to form sulfuric, nitric, or acetic acid droplets, which can corrode the stainless steel surface.
4. In coastal areas, the salt content in sea mist can corrode 304 stainless steel. 316 stainless steel has stronger resistance to corrosion from sea mist and seawater.

Usage and Maintenance Tips

1. To ensure a permanently shiny surface, we recommend frequently cleaning the stainless steel surface to remove any attached substances.
2. Avoid using cleaning agents containing bleach or abrasives. To prevent residual cleaning solution from corroding the surface, always rinse thoroughly with clean water after washing.
3. Do not use rough, hard, or sharp materials (such as steel wool, scouring pads, or abrasive tools) to clean the stainless steel surface. This is especially important for mirror-finished stainless steel; instead, use a soft, lint-free cloth.
4. In coastal areas heavily affected by sea mist, consider using 316 stainless steel for better protection.
