We recently designed and delivered a complete laboratory furniture solution for a critical water treatment plant in Saudi Arabia. The project aimed to provide a robust, corrosion-resistant, and fully functional workspace for its water quality analysis and process control laboratory, encompassing lab workbenches, storage cabinets, and core ventilation equipment to support rigorous daily testing and R&D.
Client Needs & Core Challenges
Water treatment lab environments are consistently exposed to various water samples, chemical reagents, and high humidity, placing stringent demands on equipment’s corrosion resistance, structural stability, and ease of cleaning. The client’s key requirements included:
- Exceptional Corrosion Resistance: All surfaces must withstand long-term exposure to moisture, acids/alkalis, and disinfectants.
- Durability & High Load Capacity: Ability to support various analytical instruments for stable, long-term use.
- Clear Functional Zoning: Rational planning for dry areas (operation, storage) and wet areas (fume hood processes) to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Compliance with International Standards: Equipment must have reliable safety certifications to meet the plant’s compliance management requirements.
Our Tailored Solution
Addressing the specifics of water treatment labs, we provided an integrated solution from materials to layout:
1. Core Cabinetry & Certification Assurance:
All steel cabinets are constructed from 1.0mm thick premium cold-rolled steel sheets, finished with an 85μm thick epoxy resin electrostatic powder coating. This coating offers outstanding chemical corrosion resistance, impact resistance, and adhesion, perfectly suited for damp and chemical-prone environments. All products comply with ISO quality management system standards and carry CE certification, ensuring their safety and international compliance.
2. High-Performance Worksurface & Visual Design:
The worktops are made from 16mm thick Phenolic Resin boards-Trespa Brand, whose superior resistance to corrosion, heat, and non-porous nature make them ideal for water analysis areas. The cabinetry features a light grey (off-white) epoxy resin coating, creating a professional, modern contrast with the black worktops that enhances brightness and facilitates stain detection for easy cleaning. Paired with integrated, bent black pull handles, the overall aesthetic is clean, streamlined, and low-maintenance.
3. Professional Ventilation & Safety Storage:
- The core ventilation unit is a 1200mm (W) × 900mm (D) × 2350mm (H)all-steel fume hood, providing a negative pressure barrier and forced exhaust for hazardous chemical operations, ensuring personnel safety.
- Two compact flammable safety cabinets were also supplied for the safe, segregated storage of laboratory flammable and combustible chemicals, adhering to hazardous material management standards.
Project Outcome & Client Feedback
Upon delivery, a well-organized, safe, compliant, and clean modern water quality laboratory was operational. The client highly appreciated the craftsmanship, professional color scheme, and comprehensive certifications of our products, expressing particular satisfaction with the equipment’s excellent performance in the real humid environment.
